PREPARATION

THE 50 PEOPLE I saw turned out to be the messenger spirits. They were quite organized people. At least, something like that. In a few minutes, we were all lined up in front of the milky portal they had appeared in. Looking at the milky portal reminded me of The Forest of Mist a little bit. Last time I was there, we fought The Chimera. Luckily, I knew we weren’t going back to the forest. It’s portal was a static gray. At least, that’s what I remember from when I went there. I still gulped. I take back my words, when you think about it, it’s much better to be with 5 monsters in a 2 square mile radius, than 2000 deities wanting your head even within 200 million square miles. “You know where to place them.” A male messenger with sunglasses spoke. “Everybody, go in.” reluctantly walked forwards and closed my eyes as we disappeared into the milky white portal.

I’d sensed Apollo’s sun power. That was probably because he was about to blow a few imps into the underworld. Now, imagine a few hundred gods all about to do that but with other gods. As soon as I walked in, I honestly felt sick. I took a second to scan the environment. Clear as day, the Daintree Rainforest. Then I took another second to see the forces. My jaw dropped. There were thousands of people in dozens of groups. I couldn’t even see all the people. There was a large base and at it, 12 gods stood. In front of them, minor gods and deities from Greek mythology were completely lined up, all behind thousands of demigods in hundreds of groups. I gulped. I looked behind me at the other demigods at camp. Nymphs and messenger spirits were taking people away. Vance and Willow went together, the Tithonus children went together, Alyssa and Caspian went away together, and Chrysos was escorted away by himself. Everyone was being separated by their godly parent. Soon enough, it was just me, Annabeth, Lucas, and Sarah. The messenger spirit with shades walked up to us. “S-so” I gulped. “Wh-where are we going?”

“Sorry, I guess you’ll have to go with the UD.”

“UD?” Annabeth asked. “What the heck’s UD?”

“Undetermined. Not all kids know their godly parents. They’re the frontlines. First, we’ll get you some weapons and armor.” We went into the large building behind the gods. As we walked, I didn’t feel comfortable. Probably because the 12 Olympians were staring at me as I went bye. Hades was staring from afar with Persephone too, so that didn’t help. In the armory, there were axes, bows, staffs, daggers, but I refused the weapons. I had much more experience with the sword. We went into the armor section. I saw about 5 kids working away, banging on anvils and melding weapons. “These 5 are Hephaestus’ kids.” The guy explained. “This is their job.” We looked at the many armor stands around. Among the armor, one caught my eye.
